Humanitarian Response Programme Brief

Humanitarian Response is a crucial part of OHK’s work. OHK began its poverty alleviation, development and disaster management work in mainland China in 1987, and setup offices in Western China to conduct rural development and disaster management programmes in poor and disaster prone communities in Western China. The programme brief provided an overview of the OHK humanitarian work in China with analysis of current local humanitarian work context, and followed by the programme objectives, strategies, milestones, major outputs and outcomes as well as good practices of two cases highlighted (1) the response in Ya’an earthquake 2013: placing importance on WASH; and (2) the response in Pu’an hailstorms: adopting various relief approaches, including cash transfers.
